Taster Wine handles EMCS with LTS

Challenge

Taster Wine A/S is one of Denmark's largest privately owned and independent wine and spirits companies, with its own import of wine and spirits from all over the world, production, bottling and wholesale sales.

Taster Wine wants to insource and automate customs handling, and thus take advantage of the opportunities that LTS offers for optimizing and automating their customs processes.

Since Taster Wine handles trade both within and outside the EU, they want a complete system for handling Customs and liquor taxes, and to avoid working in two or more systems, the company needs one system so that they can control, for example, EMCS transports through the EU, with correct digital documentation to the authorities.

Solution

The choice fell on Lector's customs solution LTS (Logistics Trading Services), which with its associated EMCS module supports digital communication with the authorities.

EMCS is a mandatory electronic accompanying document and receipt for the dispatch and receipt of taxable goods, which is used for purchases and sales between EU countries.

The EMCS module consists of a number of functions that, among other things, support both receiving and sending EMCS electronically and thus ensure the required monitoring of the shipment.

The module also ensures that an EMCS administrative document is created, which must accompany the goods to their destination.

Generation of the documents for these services is obtained from the OUTBOUND standard module for exporting goods and from the INBOUND module for importing goods. In addition, it is also possible to use the following functions in the module:

  • Acknowledgement of receipt
  • Cancellation of shipment
  • Reject/partially Reject EMCS shipment
  • Change of destination
  • Reminder from authorities (if EMCS is not completed within the deadline)
  • Specify reasons for delay

What will you get out of this?

The EMCS module is fully integrated into Lector's cloud-based standard solution LTS, which supports the entire customs process from importing goods from countries outside the EU, customs warehouse accounting, and to sales to countries within or outside the EU.

Automation has resulted in time savings for customs handling, as well as a reduction in costs in the process. Data entry in connection with the creation of an EMCS document is significantly reduced by receiving data from the customer's ERP system, which can be set up to automatically fill in certain fields.

The head office, warehouse and production are located in Brøndby just outside Copenhagen. The warehouse is approximately 13.000 m2 with a capacity of approximately 5.000.000 bottles, from which supplies are made to shopping chains, supermarkets, grocers, discount chains, specialty stores, hotels and restaurants as well as to the duty-free/travel retail sector and export markets.
